Charity Art Auctions: Warrior Wonder Woman and Steampunk Lara Croft Bundles
Hello everyone! I’ve just listed two original art bundles on eBay to support a pair of great causes.
The first is an original Steampunk Lara Croft art bundle on to benefit the Mercy Corps and their work aiding Typhoon Haiyan survivors. The second bundle features original Warrior Wonder Woman art to benefit the American Red Cross and those displaced by the recent tornados across the Midwest.
Both packages feature a polished color illustration and concept sketch from the immensely talented Tess Fowler, as well as a signed cosplay photo of myself in the ensemble she inspired.
Check out the links for more details on the auctions, and let me know if you’ve got any questions about the art!
I’d super appreciate any reblogs you can spare - I’d like to get the word out there and nab a sizable donation for each piece!
SDCC Showcase: Warrior Wonder Woman!
Had an absolute blast wearing Warrior Wonder Woman at SDCC. Surprisingly, I made it all day hauling around the incredibly heavy shield, proving that the dedicated lifting these past few months has yielded some results!
For anyone who hasn’t seen this costume before, it’s an original collaboration between artist Tess Fowler and I. I’ve always adored Diana’s Amazon roots, and wanted to pay tribute to that aspect of her legacy. Tess helped me flesh out the design, and then I went to work on the costume!
More photos coming soon - Ljinto and I worked some magic together! :D
First Look at “Warrior Wonder Woman”
I can’t believe the stars aligned and I finished this costume in time to debut at SOFA 2012 in Bogota, Colombia.
Inspired by an original design artist Tess Fowler and I collaborated on, the concept draws from several iterations of Wonder Woman throughout the years, peppered with original elements. While I adore Linda Carter’s version of Wonder Woman (“In your satin tights, fighting for your rights!”), I’ve always preferred the first lady of comics as a warrior. An Amazon. A total BAMF. We’ll debut the full illustration at a later date!
I’ll also put together extensive build notes and credits soon, but a huge shout out goes to Thomas Ignatius, who’s been my leatherworking mentor over the last few months. I constructed all of the costume (armor, props, skirt, belt, and so on) aside from the corset. Having never made one this complex, Tom and I knocked out the corset over a very long day, with me playing assistant. His incredible skill with leather shines through in the shape and fit of it. Perfect. I then took the corset home detailed it with the eagle crest, rivets, and dirt/blood.
Also, a side thank you to God Save the Queen Fashions, who inspired me to try my hand at leather working!
Hope you like the photos! More to come later tonight
